What a Great October We're Having!

Friends, we've been reaping a harvest of soul-stirring activities this month at St. Stephen United Methodist Church. And we're not done yet!

This coming Sunday, Oct. 23, is Laity Sunday, when we will celebrate what we call "the ministry of the laity." In other words, as part of God's family, "all people, in all times and all places, are called to love and serve." Our Lay Leader, Keith Fulenwider, has organized this Sunday's service and will bring the message. Worship begins at 10:50 a.m.

Immediately after worship this Sunday, Chair Tom Zolnerwich will bring a report from the Finance Committee on the state of St. Stephen's income and expenses. Copies of the report and the committee's suggestions for the coming year were emailed to members previously. If possible, please print out your report and bring the copy with you to the meeting to save on church expenses. We'll be voting on our budget for next year, so please make every effort to attend.

We have two more important observances coming up.

We'll remember our loved ones and those who guided us in faith for All Saints Sunday on Sunday, Oct. 30, in advance of All Saints' Day on Nov. 1. This worship service gives us an opportunity to give thanks for the many people who have loved and nurtured us throughout our lives.

Then we'll have our annual Music Appreciation Sunday on Nov. 6. Music forms a key part of St. Stephen's ministry through our Choir and Elation! Youth Drama Choir, plus the children's ensembles we have from time to time.

The Worship Committee, along with our staff team of Rev. Nancy DeStefano, choir director Ryan Forkner, and accompanist Michael Carr, have done lots of work preparing these observances, so let's honor their efforts and join in the celebrations!
